We all slept in Tuesday. The owner of our villa came by to fix our hot water issue. I think we just didn't know how to work it and no instructions written in English. He was a very nice older man, who could not speak English and I did the best I could. Ed'Veeje's Italian was pretty good and even she had difficulty. Some how, he and I worked together and communicated non-verbally and fixed the shower head.
We headed for Siena around 3pm. I really wanted to eat dinner in Siena at night. I heard so much about how beautiful Siena is at night and it didn't disappoint. We got there around 4pm and searched forever to find a parking place. I can't believe how difficult it was and how crowded; and this was not the high tourist season. It took us a while to figure how to get into the old city. We ended trapping ourselves up on the old walls of Siena.
Finally, we found our way down from the walls, and made our way to Il Campo, the famous Piazza where the yearly horse race (Palio) is run. We walked around the Piazza taking it all in, then we sat at one of the little restaurants over looking the square, where we ordered Brunello wine by the glass and Raquel ordered a beer. The wine was absolutely incredible.
The other memory I have was Raquel reading my manuscript and listening to her comments. Later that evening, we found a restaurant with white table cloths where Raquel finished reading the manuscript. We had the most beautiful dinner. Ed'Veeje said it was the best meal she has ever had while in Italy. I ordered a bottle of Brunello which the waiter decanted. It was even more incredible than earlier. I am telling you, this wine was better than any wine I have ever had. It was one of the best days of my life.
